Job opening - Estimator

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a precontracts Estimator to join our Office Design and Build, Fit-out and Refurbishment business based in Barnet, Hertfordshire.

Due to the retirement of our current Estimator, we are seeking a candidate with several years’ experience in the design and build, fit out and refurbishment industry. The successful candidate will be required to help the business pitch, often to ‘blue chip’ companies, estimating CAT A+ and CAT B fit out projects, together with small works. Our contract values range up to £1million and the successful applicant will ideally be within one hour travelling distance of our office in Barnet, Herts. Most of our staff have been with the company for many years and we are looking for a team member that is looking for a long-term position. The successful applicant will have a proven track record with a company or companies within the office fit out industry and enjoy working with the industries dynamic and fast-moving environment. Competitive salary will be commensurate with your experience, including out of pocket business expenses which will be reimbursed, pension and bonus scheme.

Estimator - Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Produce fit out and cost proposals in a timely manner.
  • Develop detailed proposals and their associated costs.
  • Conduct site visits, where required.
  • Production of pitch material including building due diligence information.
  • Set and agree deadlines.
  • Coordinate closely with the design and sales team.
  • Monitoring project costs and managing the client account, ensuring invoicing is raised in a timely manner.
  • Be responsible for documenting payments received and diarising invoices relating to projects.

Estimator - Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Comprehensive experience in an Estimator capacity.
  • Strong construction background with an awareness of D&B sales process.
  • Technical understanding of multiple trades.
  • Excellent understanding of technical drawings.
  • Self-motivated and ambitious.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the key Microsoft packages, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good interpersonal skills and confidence liaising with clients and subcontractors over the telephone.
  • Ability to work diligently under pressure.
